Black Opal True Color Pore Perfecting Liquid Foundation Review

May 13, 2015

I am already a huge fan of the Black Opal True Color Stick Foundation so when I saw a display for a new liquid formula, I made a beeline and grabbed two shades. I got "Truly Topaz" and Heavenly Honey".

From The Company:
Keep them guessing with picture poreless skin. This lightweight, oil-free liquid foundation seamlessly blends to provide flawless coverage with a high definition finish. Exclusive poreless technology helps minimize the appearance of enlarged pores, controls excess oil and renews skin natural radiance. Oil, fragrance and paraben-free formula. Suitable for all skin types, including sensitive.

First of all, this comes with a pump! This is a HUGE plus. Very rarely do you see a drugstore foundation that comes with a pump. The packaging is very sleek and chic. It comes in a glass bottle with a matte finish to it (with a pump!). And it is accented with black. It also comes with a top that is not pictured, which is great for storage.

Also, the shades are very WOC-friendly. Fairer-skinned ladies may not find their match however, the lightest shade is a golden-beige color.  The consistency is in-between: not too runny or thick. Revlon Colorstay is a smidge thicker. I wore it out and it lasted me about six hours before I had some creasing in my under eye area. I do have oily skin and I did not touch up my makeup during those six hours.

I couldn't decided between the shades "Truly Topaz" and "Heavenly Honey" so I ended up getting both. "Truly Topaz" ended up being too dark so I am going to to be using it as my summer shade.

This foundation wears like a dream! It is medium to full coverage and it is very blendable. I was very impressed while applying it. And one pump was enough for my whole face, so you will definitely get wear out of this formula. It does do a good job in minimizing pores but I still suggest wearing a face primer underneath it for a flawless finish. I pair it with my L'oreal Miracle Blur face primer and it photographs beautifully. And unlike the True Stick formula, there's no transferring and I will be able to wear this out in the Summertime.

I really couldn't find anything negative to say about this product! I highly recommend this! Especially to women of color who have a hard time finding a foundation. Plus it is very affordable, between $10-11 USD depending on where you purchase it.

PROS: packaging, formula, affordable, comes with a pump, WOC-friendly, easy application.
CONS: not a wide range of shades for fair skin.
Overall Grade: A

You can purchase the Black Opal True Color Pore Perfecting Foundation at Duane Reade, Walgreens, Rite Aid drugstores. It is also available online at the Black Opal Beauty Website.
